The first ever Festival of India in Harare – India in the Sunshine City: Celebrating India in Zimbabwe. The Festival has a simple aim of bringing together cultures of two countries that share common histories. Starting with textile trade and mining back in the 14th century to later supporting Zimbabwe in its Liberation movement; today the relationship between the two nations combines close social, political and economic ties. The First Festival of India in the Sunshine City recaptures the spirit that led the flow of ideas, commerce, and people between India and Zimbabwe. The 10-day Festival was a bouquet of India’s vibrant culture designed to charm Harare through both a classical and contemporary offering of music, theatre, dance, food, films and yoga to Harare.
